Nope no at all. Great ideas all of them but not working out the way I had envisioned them to.
All the plans of mice and men come to nought without engagement and follow through.
I had a grand time creating the plans and making the lists but when it came down to it I have not followed through on them at all.
Almost no exercise, my diet is a joke.
Again I could make all the excuses in the world but I am not doing the things that I need to do for my physical and mental health.
When the mental is good I do the physical so I need to do my meditation and watch the foods that exacerbate the mental things and consume then things that will lessen them. Deliberately not going into details here because ‘reasons’.
On another note I have been getting creative work done. WOO!!
I’ve completed roles for 2 audio drama podcasts (1 live now 1 in development). I’ve also completed some sound design things and am working hard on a couple others (sorry nothing publicly available at the moment)
I know most of the things I need to do.
I don’t do them most of the time.
ADD and stress have been playing a role in this for the past several years.
As I get more stressed the more my ADD presents. This causes me to feel more stress. Nothing like a nice self-perpetuating cycle of woe to make things difficult.
So I need to just do it. Granted I’ve been saying that for quite a while now.
I have a plan.
I made 3 task lists:
- Daily tasks : This one stays the same for the most part. It contains things like my exercise and water intake.
- Work : This one changes each work day and has the items that I plan to complete for my day job each day.
- Personal : This one has my um… personal daily tasks / goals on it and can change daily as well.
I am limited to 5 tasks on each list, this is to keep myself from overloading my tasks and creating more stress. I can and likely will do items that are not on the lists but the list items are the most important ones.
I have 6 colors for each list:
- Purple : All tasks on the list are complete
- Green : 4 items on the list are complete
- Blue : 3 items on the list are complete
- Yellow : 2 items on the list are complete
- Orange : 1 items on the list are complete
- Red : No items on the list are complete
I exercise daily. I am creative in some way every day. I meditate every day.
I’m not going to go into the details of all the tasks since that would make posting about it much more daunting.
I have my lists all set for tomorrow.
Read one chapter in marketing book: Another chapter consumed
Track Calories: Tracked the fuel intake and had a 400 cal restriction.
Walk 30 minutes: Got that out of the way right after work.
Meditate 5 minutes: Hey I did this while ‘resting’ from the walking.
Practice typing for 15 minutes: Worked on this. Have to pay more attention to not paying attention to typing if I want to improve.
Work on unfinished Audio Drama Project: Yeah about this one… the evening sort of got away from me tonight so it’s a fail on this task
Read one chapter in marketing book: I did this. If I want to transition into a lifestyle where my creativity pays the bills I NEED to learn the principles and how to apply them.
Track Calories: I tracked them all and resisted junk food again. I need to lose about 100lb to leave obesity behind. Diet will play a large part in that.
Lift weights: I started a 5×5 free weight program. My goal with the weight lifting is to hit 3 benchmarks. 250 lb bench press. 350 lb squat. 450 lb dead lift.
Meditate 5 minutes: I used the 5 minute mindfulness bell again.
Practice typing 15 minutes: According to the software I am using I have learned all the keys (not counting numbers and symbols) in just 2 days. About 35 wpm with < 5% error rate at the moment. The goal is 50 wpm.
Work on unfinished Audio projects: I put in about 45 minutes on my project. I have the main levels done and most of the SFX. This one should be ready to put to bed in a day or two. Then on to the next thing.
Practice Typing 15 minutes a day: Yep did that.
Meditate 5 Minutes a day: And this. I found a nice 5 minute mindfulness bell meditation that I’m using.
Walk 30 min 4 + Days a week: I even walked wow 3 in a row! Setting this one to 4 days.
Lift weights 2 – 3 Days a week: No weights on walking days. Setting it to 2 days a week so I have 1 day off of exercise a week.
Track calories. Bring food to work, no junk food at work.: I was mostly good but I forgot to bring food to work. Still ended with a calorie restriction thou to woo.
Record, produce and post 1 Audio demo per month: Didn’t even think about this one. I’m not going to push to get one out this month since it’s almost over and no demo is better than a crappy one.
Work on unfinished Audio production projects at least 30 minutes a day: I did this, actually about 45 minuts worth. Much was finding sounds, checking the license then downloading the audio.
Read 15 minutes on book from list daily: I read for about 15 minutes from a marketing book I picked up a year or two back.
And I made this accountability post to boot. Go me!
Practice Typing 15 minutes a day
Meditate 5 Minutes a day
Walk 30 min 4 + Days a week
Lift weights 2 – 3 Days a week
Track calories. Bring food to work, no junk food at work.
Record, produce and post 1 Audio demo per month
Work on unfinished Audio production projects at least 30 minutes a day
Read 15 minutes on book from list daily
This is still a work in progress but I will be taking action starting tomorrow morning on it. I took action tonight by making a goal list and starting on the task list. 🙂
Well that was unexpected. I wasn’t planning to stop posting I just forgot one day then didn’t make a list and well I’m sure you get the idea.
I’ve changed things up a bit with regard to everything.
I’m exercising 3x a week 2x on the days I exercise. 30 minutes steady state(ish) fasted cardio in the morning. Then 30(ish) minutes of weight lifting after I get home from work. So I get 2 sleep cycles between exercise days which should help with the recovery. Before I was doing cardio on the off days or every day so only 1 sleep cycle. Since I’m just getting back on the exercise wagon (again) I want to give myself the extra recovery and jump-start the whole process.
30 minutes walking at 2.7mph average this morning
5 x 5 @65lbs Barbell squats, 5×5 @45lbs Barbell overhead press, 1 x 5 @135lbs Dead-lift
2519 calories consumed (119g fat, 246g carbs, 91g protein. 10 g alcohol)
Meditated after the morning walk.
Research on Audio production continues.
I’m still working on my outline even though NaNoWriMo has started. I want to finish something that has some remote resemblance to a first draft and not just ‘win NaNo’ this time. I’ve won Nano a few times but I will not consider showing those manuscripts to anyone (yes they are that bad and worse).
The new creative thing is on the back back burner for the time being as I need to really focus on audio production and voice over with writing on the side. Well on top of the day job that is.
Almost forgot THIS YouTube channel is giving me a bunch of helpful coping strategies!
